Columbia Recycling PDX submitted an application to Metro for a solid waste facility license to receive and sort materials such as paper, plastic and metal for recycling markets. Columbia Recycling PDX has been in operation since 2006, and this type of facility was previously exempt from obtaining a Metro license. Due to recent changes to Metro Code (effective Jan. 1, 2019), Columbia Recycling PDX is now required to obtain a license from Metro. To share your views, comment by 5 p.m. Oct. 17, 2018.

Description of facility and application

Columbia Recycling PDX is locally owned and operated. The facility has been in operation since 2006 and accepts source-separated recyclables, tires, ferrous and non-ferrous metal, canned beverages, plastic film and textiles from commercial haulers.

According the the city of Portland, the proposed use is allowed.
