Metro chief operating officer Marissa Madrigal announced Friday that Steve Faulstick will join Metro as its interim general manager of visitor venues.
Faulstick will serve through the duration of Metro’s recruitment for a permanent GM of visitor venues, a position that oversees the Oregon Convention Center, Portland’5 Centers for the Arts, Oregon Zoo and Portland Expo Center.
A veteran of Oregon’s travel industry, Faulstick started his career as a busser at a hotel in Medford. He worked at hotels around the west before returning to Oregon in 1999, ultimately serving as the general manager of Portland-area hotels before becoming the chief sales officer for Travel Portland in 2016. He left Travel Portland shortly before the COVID-19 pandemic began.
“Steve has been a long-time partner of Metro and our venues,” Madrigal said. “Steve’s deep knowledge of our venues and the hospitality industry will be an enormous asset to Metro.”
Faulstick is scheduled to begin his work at Metro on Oct. 12.
