The 82nd Avenue Transit Project Steering Committee guides the project and provides partner input and support. Metro and TriMet convened the committee in September 2022.
The committee is charged with selecting the locally preferred alternative, which defines the transit mode, the transit route (including turnaround locations), and the general station locations. Their work will be based on technical analysis, constituent input and robust public engagement. The locally preferred alternative will be tied to a high-level funding plan which must be adopted by the Joint Policy Advisory Committee on Transportation and the Metro Council prior to applying for federal funding. Support from local jurisdictions represented on the committee will also be important for a successful application for federal funds.
