Join this public hearing to comment on administrative rules for proposed changes to the wet waste tonnage allocation rules in greater Portland.
Metro is revising select administrative rules that determine how it allocates regional wet waste to private transfer stations. The proposed changes are designed to simplify the tonnage application process and to clarify and align rule language with the intent of the previous administrative rules to advance goals of the Regional Waste Plan.
These aims include providing living wages, increasing diversity in the workforce and reducing environmental impacts at private transfer stations in the region. These goals reflect the Regional Waste Plan focus on equity; centering the voices, values, and needs of marginalized communities in the region’s garbage and recycling system.
