Whether you’ve lived in our region your whole life or recently moved here, it is easy to see that Oregonians love to bike.
It makes sense that many area parents are increasingly sharing their love for biking with their kids. Metro, the Portland Bureau of Transportation and regional travel options partners have joined to produce a regional Family Bike Guide to help parents learn more about getting around by bike with the whole family.

Biking as a family lets you spend more quality time together, stay fit and experience your community from the comfort and convenience of your bike. And you don’t need to wait until your kids are old enough to ride on their own to enjoy the benefits of biking together. Whether in a pull-along trailer, seated on the back of your long-tail bike or riding solo, you and your child can experience the freedom and convenience of getting to your next destination, or just out to explore, by bike.
From riding while pregnant to traveling with school-age kids, the guide is filled with instructions, tips and descriptions of ways to safely and comfortably travel by bike throughout the region.
The guide is inspired by the Portland Bureau of Transportation's recent Family Biking Guide, which includes information specific to riding in Portland.
You can find Metro's Family Bike Guide at oregonmetro.gov/bikethere and at bike-themed events in the region through summer 2015.
