In accordance with the plan approved by voters in May, the Metro Council appointed the members of the supportive housing services oversight committee on Nov. 19. The committee, convened to provide independent and transparent oversight of the regional program, will evaluate the implementation of the program and will ensure that it remains consistent with the program’s goals and principles. It will also make annual reports and presentations to the Metro Council and the boards of commissioners of Clackamas, Multnomah and Washington counties regarding the program’s challenges, successes and outcomes.
“This committee represents a wealth of expertise from the financial, healthcare, non-profit, public and philanthropic sectors,” said Metro Council President Lynn Peterson. “It also includes people with lived experience with housing stability and homelessness – either personally or through close friends and family.”
Voters in greater Portland approved the supportive housing services program in May 2020 trusting Metro’s track record of accountability and independent oversight. “We look forward to working closely with this committee to ensure we uphold our promise to the region’s voters for transparent oversight and accountability, and ensuring that this regional investment brings resolution and hope for the thousands who are experiencing homelessness in our community,” added Peterson.
