In 2018, the City of Lake Oswego and Metro began working together on a trail study to determine how Foothills Park could connect to Tryon Creek State Natural Area, while also providing a connection to the Willamette River Water Trail at Tryon Creek Cove.
Metro assembled a Project Advisory Committee that included stakeholders from the City of Lake Oswego, Oregon Department of Transportation, Clackamas County Transportation Planning, The Street Trust, Birdshill Neighborhood Association, Tryon Creek Watershed Council, City of Portland, Bureau of Environmental Services, and Oregon Parks and Recreation Department.
Two open houses and two online surveys provided opportunities for the community to share their thoughts before the trail study was finished in the spring of 2019.
The study included hard and soft trails to accommodate cyclists and walkers and a bridge over Tryon Creek, filling a key gap in an existing regional trail network.
