The Core 4 – representatives of the Metro Council and the three counties in the region – met this morning to shape a "best effort" map of proposed urban and rural reserves.
Designating land as either rural or urban reserves will help regional leaders in future decisions regarding urban growth boundary expansions and investments in the region. The Core 4 discussed several amendments proposed by the Metro Council last week. While they agreed upon several factors in the Metro proposal, the group also identified areas that warrant further discussion.
The updated reserves map, which will be available on Dec. 17, will be brought to the general public via open houses and possible joint hearings in January. Following public comment, the Core 4, on behalf of their respective governments, will propose a final map and an intergovernmental agreement for formal approval in February 2010.
