They asked, listened and responded. In 2008, the staff of the Data Resource Center launched their first user survey for subscribers who use RLIS data in their work. Based on the feedback they received, they responded with two innovative leaps in service that have made accessing RLIS data easier, faster, more convenient and less expensive.
Now they're going back for more. A new user survey for subscribers to RLIS Live – RLIS data available through download on the RLIS Discovery site and web services for developers and advanced GIS users – was launched mid-February and is available through the first week of March on the Metro website.
The DRC provides the data that have informed decision-making for Metro and regional planners for over two decades. RLIS data is used by a broad range of customers from web developers to nonprofit agencies and from local governments to private business (including Google maps).
Once the survey results are collected, DRC staff will review the feedback for guidance on future changes to the data and delivery systems. Survey responses are also used to evaluate the quality, efficiency and usefulness of the DRC services and products.
With the launch of the latest user survey, the DRC continues its tradition of responsiveness, customer service and innovation that supports its longevity and respected standing in the industry.
The Data Resource Center supports the region's six desired outcomes by providing GIS data to inform decision-making that leads to vibrant communities, economic prosperity, safe and reliable transportation systems, and leadership on climate change.
