The Oregon Convention Center announced today that Matt Uchtman has been named its new director of operations.
Uchtman has served as the convention center's operations manager of technical services since 2006, supervising the facility’s vast engineering, electrical, utility maintenance, grounds maintenance, telecommunication and audiovisual services for national convention, consumer tradeshow and special event clients.
"Matt’s vision for the Oregon Convention Center’s sustainability and operational efficiency stood out among the candidates for this position," said Scott Cruickshank, the Oregon Convention Center's executive director. "His solid experience as a solution-focused manager well-versed in industry trends will serve the facility well as we pursue LEED Gold recertification in 2013."
Prior to joining the OCC, Uchtman worked at the University of Dayton Arena in Dayton, Ohio, from 1998-2006, as an operations assistant, operations coordinator, senior operations coordinator and assistant director of the operations department. Later, he was promoted to assistant director of the university’s arena and sports complex.
He has a Bachelor of Science degree in sports management from the University of Dayton and graduated from the International Association of Venue Management’s School of Venue Management in June 2008.
