Metro and the Miller Nash law firm are co-sponsoring this week's quarterly Say Hey event, a chance to recognize people of color who have recently moved to the Portland region.
Organized by Partners in Diversity, the Say Hey event helps honorees feel welcome and more connected to their new community. It's scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday at the Antoinette Hatfield Hall at Metro's Portland Center for the Performing Arts. Admission is free.
Recent arrivals, or those who know professionals of color who have moved to Oregon or southwest Washington in the last 18 months, can register through Partners in Diversity.
The event is open to the public; it also features community leaders, corporate and public sector leaders and community organizations. Metro Council President Tom Hughes and Metro Exposition and Recreation Commission vice chair Elisa Dozono, a partner at Miller Nash, are scheduled to speak at the event.
