Metro’s online survey panel, Opt In, has more than 17,000 participants - and now some international props.
Opt In is featured in a report about public participation released this week by the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe Parliamentary Assembly, a 55-country assembly that works to strengthen international co-operation to uphold commitments on political, security, economic, environmental and human rights issues.
The report, sOcialSCapE: New ways that parliaments, governments, and civil society are increasing civic participation, features case studies from more than 15 countries. Metro is one of only two cases from the United States included in the report.
"Opt In has made it easier for residents of the region to learn about and weigh in on issues that matter to them," said Metro Council President Tom Hughes. "The overwhelming response to this new tool shows that people are hungry for a new form of civic engagement and I’m proud that Metro has demonstrated innovative leadership."

Despite international recognition, Opt In is still talking trash. Sign up for Opt In now to take a survey about managing garbage in our region. The survey will close July 13.
