The Portland Housing Bureau’s announcement of nine proposed affordable housing developments brings the City of Roses up to 13 affordable housing developments as part of the voter-approved 2018 Metro affordable housing bond program.
On Oct. 12, the bureau announced that it was submitting nine developments for review by Metro staff. If approved, these nine will combine for 839 new units of affordable housing in greater Portland.

Metro staff will now review the proposed housing to ensure the projects are feasible and are in alignment with the Portland Housing Bureau’s adopted local implementation strategy. That review should conclude within about a month.
Metro has already approved 418 units of affordable housing proposed by the Portland Housing Bureau. One building, the Hattie Redmond Apartments in North Portland, broke ground on Oct. 15.
Overall, more than 3,000 affordable homes are now in the pipeline or under construction across greater Portland.
