The Federal Highway Administration and Federal Transit Administration will be conducting a certification review of Metro’s transportation planning process.
What is a planning process? It’s a process by which transportation decisions are made that determines how projects are planned and prioritized for implementation within the region.
The Transportation Management Area Certification Review is a federal requirement for metropolitan planning areas over 200,000 population at least once every four years.
Metro is the federally mandated metropolitan planning organization (MPO) designated by the governor to develop an overall transportation plan and to allocate federal funds for the region.
