Metro has extended the deadline to apply to serve on the Public Engagement Review Committee, which helps develop and review the agency's efforts to connect people to decisions that affect their lives and communities. The new application deadline is Dec. 4.
"Better engagement means better decisions," said Metro Councilor Kathryn Harrington. "I urge people from around the region to apply to help Metro engage the full diversity of the region."
"Specifically, we’re seeking broader representation from community members currently underrepresented in Metro’s decision-making process, including people of color, people with low income, English language learners, youth and older adults," said Heather Coston, who leads Metro's Office of Public Engagement. "We’d also like to increase our representation from Clackamas County and East Portland to ensure this committee is more reflective of the region we serve.”Several positions are open on the committee, which meets three times a year and includes community members, representatives of community-based organizations, and public engagement staff from each of the region's three counties.
