Public comment and oral hearing
Description of proposed adminstrative rules
Over the past few years and at the direction of the Metro Council, Metro's solid waste staff have been working to update Metro's solid waste code and administrative rules to provide greater clarity and predictability for the public and for those directly involved in our region's solid waste system.
The primary purpose of the proposed administrative rules is to clarify Metro’s general operating requirements and performance expectations for transfer stations within the region. These proposed rules generally mirror Metro’s existing requirements for privately owned transfer stations. The proposed transfer station rules also include updates and improvements to support food wate recovery in the region.
The public comment period begins on Monday, Feb. 24, 2020, and ends at 5 p.m on Wednesday, March 25, 2020.
Metro will accept written comments on the proposed rules until 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25. Additionally, Metro will host an oral hearing to solicit input on the proposed rules. The oral hearing will take place at the Metro Regional Center on March 12 (Thursday) from 10:30 am to 11 am for the rules addressing Private Transfer Station Management (AR 5.01 3100-3145).
Metro’s Chief Operating Officer will consider the comments that Metro receives during the comment period when determining whether to adopt these proposed administrative rules.
