Hours

Business: Haulers with RFIDs (radio frequencey indentification) can haul on Thanksgiving Day durring regular automated hours due to LGs requiring regular pick up.

Dropoff: Open 8-5 daily. Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day to the public.
General Information

Loads should be covered. There is an additonal charge for loads of municipal solid waste and clean wood or yard debris that are not covered by a tarp or other covering of $25.00 per ton ($5.00 extra for minimum loads).
Fee

Personal checks are accepted if the person signing the check is present with valid identification. The address on the check must be the same as that on the identification. Business checks are accepted without identification and the signer need not be present in the vehicle. The business check must have the business name on the check. Business credit cards must be signed, but may be used by others if the card has business name, not an individual's name. Comms checks and EFS checks are not accepted.

A temporary account can be set up by placing a credit card on file. Please allow for at least one business day to set up this type of account; contact accounting at 503-797-1646. Businesses may establish a permanent account and be billed monthly. This type of account requires a credit application and credit check. Please allow up to four weeks to complete. Directions

From NW Saint Helens Road (Hwy. 30) or Yeon Avenue, turn east (towards the river) onto Kittridge Avenue and left onto Front Avenue. Go one mile to NW 61st Avenue and turn left. Metro Central is on the right. From I-5, take exit #3 coming from either direction, then follow directions for Highway 30, St. Helens.

Computer peripherals	✓	✓	This location participates in the Oregon E-Cycles program, which accepts computer mice, keyboards and desktop printers at no charge. May bring in up to seven units per day. Must not be disassembled.
Computers and monitors	✓	✓	Participant in the Oregon E-Cycles program that accepts up to seven laptops, monitors, printers, televisions and computers at no charge. May bring in up to seven units per day. Must not be disassembled. Disassembled items (i.e., a box of circuit boards) may be charged the at the trash rate, and large quantities may be rejected. That decision is made on a case-by-case basis. Computer peripherals such as cables, keyboards, desktop printers and mice are accepted free of charge.
Creosote treated wood	✓	✓	Dimensional lumber, timbers, and posts of all types 6â€x8" or larger must be cut to lengths four feet or shorter to prevent damage to the transfer stationsâ€™ compactors. Charged at the garbage rate.
Dead animals	✓	✓	Dead animals or parts are accepted at the garbage rate. Must be triple-wrapped in plastic securely. The customer must notify the scalehouse when they arrive for special treatment of the load. More than 3 carcasses may be rejected, depending on the size.
Ferrous metals	✓	✓	Push lawnmowers and rototillers are accepted as scrap metal and must be drained of all fluids. Riding mowers are accepted at garbage rate unless tires and all other non-metal parts are removed. Oil-filled heaters are accepted as metal recycling at Metro Central, and do not need to be handled as hazardous waste. Fencing must be rolled neatly. Weeds or other trash caught in the fencing must be removed. Barbed wire is not accepted for recycling. Empty paint cans with less than 1 inch of dry paint are accepted at no charge for recycling.
Food waste	✓	✓	Source-separated food waste (includes vegetative and non-vegetative pre-consumer and post-consumer foods, meats and dairy). The only "paper products" that can be included are pizza boxes, tea bags and coffee filters. Self-haul residential loads are accepted. Degradable "plastics" like flatware, cups and food containers are not accepted. Commercial food waste cannot include paper products that are accepted in residential food waste, such as napkins, paper towels and pizza boxes. Covered residential loads: $94.04 per ton plus a $27 transaction fee. Minimum charge is $38 for up to 240 pounds. Commercial covered loads: $82.41 per ton plus a transaction fee of $27 per load for staffed scales or $4.25 per load for automated scales. Minimum charge is $37 for up to 240 pounds

Stumps	✓	✓	18" in diameter or smaller are accepted as yard debris. Stumps 18"-24" in diameter are accepted at the mixed waste rate. Does not accept stumps over 24" in diameter. The root ball is included in the measurements; the entire thing must be able to fit into the compactor which has a four foot opening.
Televisions	✓	✓	Broken televisions or disassembled televisions with be taken at the garbage rate and landfilled. Participant in the Oregon E-Cycles program that accepts up to seven laptops, monitors, printers, televisions and computers for free. Disassembled items may be charged the trash rate and large quantities of disassembled items may be rejected.

Tires	✓	✓	Maximum of 15 tires per day. Bicycle, motorcycle and solid core tires are accepted at the trash rate. $27 for the first tire. Each additional tire is $2 per tire off the rim, $4 per tire on the rim. After the garbage minimum fee of $45 is reached, tires are charged at the regular garbage rate for up to 15 tires. Tires brought in with a load of garbage are included with the garbage and charged at the garbage rate. Bicycle tires, motorcycle tires and ATV solid core tires are accepted at the garbage rate. Tractor tires, heavy equipment tires or semi tires are not accepted.
Untreated wood	✓	✓	Dimensional lumber, timbers, and posts of all types 6â€x8" or larger must be cut to lengths four feet or shorter to prevent damage to the transfer station's compactors. Clean wood brought in a load with other materials, such as yard debris, engineered wood (particle board, plywood, etc.) and garbage waste, are charged the mixed debris rate. Clean wood must be free of plastic, paint and other treatment to qualify for the clean wood rate. Nails and small screws are acceptable. Covered loads: $81.92 per ton plus a $27 transaction fee; $37 minimum for up to 240 pounds.
Wood burning stoves	✓	✓	Accepted for metal recycling if they are not lined with brick. Stoves lined with brick require asbestos testing. If proof of destruction is required the form must be presented when entering the facility. Scalehouse staff must witness that the stove was in the vehicle. Pallets	✓	✓	Only wooden pallets that have no paint or other treatment, contain no plywood, and are free of contaminants such as shrink wrap are accepted at the wood rate. Other pallets are accepted as garbage.
Wreaths	✓	✓	Accepted for free with a Christmas tree.
