EFI Recycling submitted an application to Metro for a solid waste facility license to receive and sort materials such as paper, plastic and metal for recycling markets. EFI Recycling has been in operation since 2001 at this location, and this type of facility was previously exempt from obtaining a Metro license. Due to recent changes to Metro Code (effective Jan. 1, 2019), EFI Recycling is now required to obtain a license from Metro. To share your views, comment by 5 p.m. Oct. 17, 2018

Description of facility and application

EFI Recycling is locally owned and operated. The facility has been in operation on Swan Island since 2001 and accepts cardboard, office papers, separated commercial commingled recyclables from commercial haulers.

According the the city of Portland, the proposed use is allowed.
