Metro is required to document funded projects scheduled to use federal funds over the next four years. The current cycle is documented in the 2024-27 Metropolitan Transportation Improvement Program.
Metro is in receipt of the proposed MTIP formal amendments:
The purpose of this amendment is to make the necessary funding corrections, increases and fund reprogramming to the 2024-27 MTIP. This amendment removes two, adds five new projects and amends five project awards to meet federal delivery requirements:
- Removal of funds for assessment and painting on I‐405 Fremont Bridge (Willamette River) East and West ramps.
- Removal of funds for pedestrian and bicycle safety improvements at I-205 Overcrossing (Sullivans Gulch).
- New funding to accommodate the transit needs of the elderly and individuals with disabilities.
- New funding for transit vehicle replacement in urban environments.
- New funding for bus preventive maintenance, purchase of service, mobility management and acquisition of buses, to better serve the mobility needs of seniors and individuals with disabilities.
- New funding for the purchase of approximately 14 replacement 60-foot hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Buses, to update the Powell garage maintenance bays, install a mobile fuel station and support workforce training needs.
- New funds to support the replacement and rehab of buses and related amenities to include equipment such as ADA lift, technology components, and signs for customer service.
- Funding for the design and construction of a demonstration project on Southwest Hall Blvd. from 1st to 3rd streets. The project contains various pedestrian and street upgrades, protected bikeways, wider sidewalks, traffic signal upgrades, new bus stops, landscaping, stormwater upgrades, and roadway reconstruction.
- Additional funding for construction to improve stormwater quality within the Portland Harbor from Fremont Bridge to St. Johns Bridge, including surrounding areas.
- Revised funding for the enhanced mobility of seniors and individuals with disabilities under the Oregon Transportation Network program.
- $25 million in additional RAISE grant funds toward the completion of the Columbia Zero Emissions Bus Operation Facility. The facility will be a hub for powering and maintaining zero emissions buses and training operators.
