Contractors looking to get a leg up on government work can get more information at an open house Wednesday at the Oregon Convention Center.
Metro and Multnomah County are co-hosting the open house, aimed at minority-owned and women-owned contractors, and contractors below certain revenue thresholds. These are, in industry and government, known as minority-, women-owned and emerging small businesses, or MWESBs.
By law, MWESB contractors must be given an opportunity to bid on government contracts in Oregon.
At the three-hour open house, MWESB contractors can learn how to do business with Multnomah County and Metro, including sessions on using the state-run bid management system, ORPIN.
MWESB contractors must be state-certified to qualify for MWESB bids, and the open house includes a session on how to get state-certified.
More than 250 business owners are expected to attend Wednesday's session, which begins at 4 p.m.
