For nearly 25 years, the MetroMap application has been a vital resource for city partners, planners, developers and the public. This valuable tool allows users to explore locations in the region and learn about political boundaries, service providers, property values, environmental features and more. You can use MetroMap to access a wide range of data about properties in the region, including:
- Taxlot ID, address, city, and county for a location
- Certain points of interest like schools, parks and major venues
- Whether a property is inside or outside the Urban Growth Boundary
- If there are steep slopes or wetlands present that could make the land unsuitable for development
- If there are bike routes near a potential site for a new park
- And more!
Introducing the New MetroMap
Recognizing the need for modernization, the Data Resource Center, part of Metro’s Planning, Development and Research Department, began a comprehensive rebuild of MetroMap in 2023. After months of development and rigorous testing, the new MetroMap moved out of beta in April, and we are thrilled to share it with the community.
Enhanced Features and Accessibility
The new MetroMap is a significant improvement over the legacy version, offering:
- Compatibility with cellphones, desktops, and tablets
- New data such as city annexations, bus routes, and recent aerial photography (there are now nearly 50 map layers!)
- Enhanced accessibility features for people with vision challenges
- Support for Spanish-speaking users
- Map sharing, measuring tools, and more
Explore the New MetroMap
Like its predecessor, the new MetroMap provides quick and easy access to data from the Regional Land Information System (RLIS), Metro’s authoritative regional geospatial database curated and maintained for over 30 years. Learn more about RLIS.
Glen Hamburg, an associate regional planner at Metro, says, “I cannot express to you how helpful the updated MetroMap is for a project I’m working on right now. The ability to toggle current city boundaries and UGB history, and to adjust those layers’ opacity, is making an analysis task that has in the past been a bit of a hassle so much easier.”
