Sam Chase, Craig Dirksen and Bob Stacey were sworn in Thursday as each begins a second four-year term on the Metro Council.
All three councilors won re-election to their seats in May 2016. The swearing-in, administered by Multnomah County Circuit Court Judge Adrienne Nelson, took place at the Metro Council Chamber before Thursday's regularly-scheduled Metro Council meeting.
Chase joined the Metro Council in 2012 and is the director of the Coalition of Community Health Clinics. He has served as chief of staff to Portland City Commissioner Nick Fish, executive director at the Oregon Opportunity Network and Clackamas Community Land Trust, housing policy advisor to Portland City Commissioner Gretchen Kafoury, and campaign manager and field director for local and state political campaigns.
Dirksen is a retired industrial engineer who joined the Metro Council in 2012. He moved to Tigard in 1977 and was mayor from 2004-12.
Stacey has spent nearly 40 years in public service, and joined the Metro Council in 2012. He has served as executive director of 1000 Friends of Oregon, chief of staff to Congressman Earl Blumenauer, executive director for policy and planning at TriMet, partner at Ball Janik LLP specializing in land use, senior policy advisor to Gov. Barbara Roberts among many other positions.
