Celebrate family, fun and healthy living at Celebrate Hillsboro this weekend. Head to the Hillsboro Civic Center in downtown Hillsboro from 9 a.m. and runs through 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 23 for the free festivities.
A variety of activities and entertainment will be on tap at four stages. There will be a children's fun zone as well as arts, crafts, activity and information booths galore.
Listen to music, bowse the farmer’s market and enjoy great food. Win prizes and collect fun giveaways. Learn about ways to live more sustainably that will save you money. Even join in a community bike ride or an attempt to set a Guinness World Record for the most people yo-yoing at the same time. If more than 2,037 people play along, Hillsboro will break the record. Free yo-yos will be given out, while supplies last.
Visitors can also check out the action at the Futsal Street Soccer Cup tournament. The word futsal comes from the Spanish phrase, “futbol de salon” which literally translates to indoor soccer, but this is no ordinary soccer tournament – it is a fast-paced, high-energy style of soccer that is sure to entertain.
Radio Disney will be broadcasting from the event, and a live, interactive Radio Disney performance from 11:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. will get both children and adults up moving and having fun.
Metro is proud to help sponsor Celebrate Hillsboro. Metro's bilingual outreach team will be there with fun activities and giveaways to educate families about reducing their use of toxics, recycling, biking, walking and other healthy lifestyle choices.
Metro operates programs that encourage people to practice sustainable behaviors like limiting waste, reusing items and reducing the amount they buy, so they can help keep the region's air and water clean for current and future generations of Oregonians.
