Elected and community leaders from east Multnomah County will ask Metro Council on Aug. 9 to endorse a plan for near- and long-term transportation investments. The Metro Council action will mark the final approval of the East Metro Connections Plan, a strategy that links transportation, employment growth and community values.
The plan capitalizes on east county assets, such as developable employment land at Gresham Vista Business Park. Immediate opportunities include improving traffic signal coordination so that drivers spend less time waiting at red lights and increasing transit service along Powell Boulevard and Division Street. Other projects provide better access and mobility between Interstate 84 and U.S. 26, increase safety, and help people find their way through and to key destinations in the area.
East Metro Connections Plan received unanimous support from the elected councils of Gresham, Fairview, Troutdale and Wood Village and Multnomah County Commission. Metro Council will consider the plan at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 9. The public is invited to attend and comment.
