From 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 31 at the Tigard Library
Community members who live in the Southwest corridor area, between Portland and Sherwood, are invited to help develop a common vision for communities and the Southwest Barbur Boulevard/99W corridor.
The vision will be a foundation for planning future improvements in the area – things like sidewalks, housing choices, transportation and transit, economic development, air and water quality, parks and trails. Forum participants will consider goals and objectives for the Southwest Corridor Plan and talk about how to prioritize and leverage investments to meet corridor-wide goals.
The Southwest Corridor Plan, which includes areas around Highway 99W from downtown Portland to Sherwood, is unique because planners are working on land use issues first. Road, transit, bike and pedestrian investments, along with other investments that support community visions for the future, will follow.
The local land use processes that feed into the Southwest Corridor plan include the Portland’s Barbur Concept Plan, Tigard Connections, Linking Tualatin and Sherwood’s Town Center Plan.
Metro and project partners will convene additional community planning forums over the course of 2012 at project milestones.
