Metro is offering free admission to all of its parks and boat ramps Nov. 27 as part of an effort to encourage people to get outside and enjoy nature on the day after Thanksgiving.
Most Metro destinations are already free to visit year-round. On Friday, the free admission extends to Blue Lake and Oxbow regional parks as well as Chinook Landing Marine Park and M. James Gleason Memorial Boat Ramp.
"It seems right for us to encourage people to be outside and enjoy themselves on a day like that," said Justin Patterson, visitor services director at Metro Parks and Nature.
Metro joins the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department and state parks in California, Missouri, Minnesota, outdoor retailer REI and others in offering free admission or other incentives to promote the outdoors on Black Friday.
