After serving the Lloyd District for 20 years, the Lloyd Transportation Management Association has chosen a name more fitting of the wide variety of support it gives residents and businesses of the inner northeast neighborhood – Go Lloyd.
Announced at the organization's birthday celebration last Thursday at the Lloyd Doubletree Hotel, the new name and logo was chosen by the board and staff to reflect their broader goals for transportation, growth, livability and sustainability.
"Transportation management will always be a core offering," says director Rick Williams, "but perhaps taking transportation out of our name and replacing it with something more all-encompassing can help us better explain all that we are about."
Go Lloyd promotes the economic vitality of the Lloyd District by providing transportation programs and services to improve access, funded in part by Metro's Regional Travel Options program. Since 1994, the association has worked with local businesses to enhance and expand commute options for the 10,000 employees, over 2,000 residents and countless visitors and shoppers that frequent the area.
“This change is about being a 'concierge' for the district,” explains Williams “we’re personally connecting people with questions with our businesses and resources that deliver a solution.”
The Lloyd District Transportation Options Outreach and Infrastructure program leverages Go Lloyd's successful commuter programs to employees, and is working to expand to the growing Lloyd District residential population, which is expected to double with planned developments between now and 2015.
