Metro will honor Veterans Day by offering free admission to Metro regional parks and the Oregon Zoo for military veterans and active military personnel, as well as family members who accompany them. Families of deployed military personnel also will be given free admission.
To receive free admission, visitors must show a military or veteran organization ID, discharge papers or other official military identification; families of deployed military personnel must show an active duty dependent ID. The zoo store and their food outlets are also offering a 10 percent discount for veterans, active military personnel and their families, with proper identification.
First responders, such as police and fire personnel, with ID will also receive free admission to Metro regional parks.
“We’re thankful to everyone who has served our country as well as the families who support them,” said Teri Dresler, interim zoo director. “On Nov. 11, we’re observing Veterans Day by inviting active or retired military personnel and their families to enjoy a free day at the zoo.”

Metro staff will also march alongside Metro Council President Tom Hughes and councilors Bob Stacey and Sam Chase in the Veterans Day Parade Nov. 11 in Portland's Hollywood District.
“This is an important way to show our thanks for veterans and those still serving, as well as our support for the community we serve,” Hughes said.
The parade is scheduled to begin at Northeast 40th Avenue and Northeast Tillamook Street at 9:45 a.m., rain or shine.
