On another of my rambunctious weekends, hanging with the religious communicators in Nashville, Tenn., the Methodists mentioned they would be gathering en masse in Portland in 2016. As we talked about their quadrennial General Conference, two things became clear. Those United Methodists are excited about spending 11 May days in Portland. And they don't seem to care one way or another about a convention-center hotel.
