Join Metro and Drive Less Save More this May to celebrate the unique power of the bicycle during National Bike Month. Whether riding to work, school, running a few errands or taking a long spin around the region’s many bike paths, riding your bike can help you save money, stay healthy and keep our air clean.
Bicycling can be something of a soggy adventure this time of year, so Metro and Drive Less Save More partners will be surprising cyclists with waterproof bike seat covers to keep dry and encourage you to continue to ride your bike this month – and beyond. Watch for covers to be distributed at bike racks at business districts, universities and shopping destinations throughout the region.
This year’s celebration of all things bike is virtual as well, as Metro and partners asks riders to share photos of their experiences on Twitter, Facebook and social networks to show their friends what they love about riding. Use the hashtag #thx4biking on any of your social networks to join the conversation , or use #thx4biking to search to see what others are doing to enjoy our bike-friendly region and find where bike seat covers are being distributed.
Metro will be giving away free Bike There! maps and Walk There! books in May to thank riders and social media followers using the #thx4biking hashtag. Follow Metro on Twitter or Metro GreenScene on Facebook to participate in contests every week.
Non-virtual Bike Month events are being hosted by partners around the region in May. Go to Drive Less Save More to find a listing of cities with Bike Month events, including National Bike to Work Day on Friday, May 17.
