A unique green wall made its debut Wednesday at the Portland Expo Center, creating an innovative way to manage stormwater – and a striking attraction for visitors to the North Portland venue.
“It’s a blend of science, art and sustainability,” Expo Center Director Matthew P. Rotchford told a crowd of several dozen gathered to celebrate the new wall.
The event brought together project partners, including Metro, Portland’s Bureau of Environmental Services, the Environmental Protection Agency and GreenWorks P.C. Landscape Architecture. Participants inspected native plants up-close and pointed skyward as they examined the wall, which stretches 30 feet tall and 60 feet wide.
