Council undecided in first briefing on expected UGB legislation

At a work session to review the council's legislative priorities for the upcoming short session of the Legislature, councilors went over a staff report that says "Legislation is expected in 2014 that would declare final the Metro Council's 2011 urban growth boundary expansion and moot all appeals of that decision."

Advocates say new parking fees at Washington Park will improve roads, safety

City leaders say the impacts will be for the better, and that parking charges are needed to improve transportation through the park, to support maintenance of park roads and lots and to enhance security by adding rangers. The Portland City Council approved the changes in 2012, when it created the Washington Park Transportation Management Association.

Chinook Landing Marine Park temporarily closed through Jan. 14, 2014

Metro's Chinook Landing Marine Park in Fairview will be closed through this weekend. A leak was detected in the water line underneath the main road leading into the facility late Tuesday afternoon and repairs are underway. Chinook is tentatively expected to reopen Tuesday morning, depending on how weather impacts construction.
