Ten new members were appointed Thursday to the independent citizen oversight committee that tracks Metro's investment of the voter-approved 2006 natural areas bond measure.
The committee analyzes Metro's work to protect water quality, wildlife habitat and recreation opportunities for future generations with the $227 million bond measure. Members have issued two comprehensive reports to the region and collaborated with Metro staff on improvements such as strengthening public and landowner outreach, learning from every potential transaction and developing additional tools to measure the program's success.
Committee work will move forward under the leadership of Linda Craig, a Certified Public Accountant and Audubon Society member who on Thursday was officially selected as committee chair. She has served on the committee since it launched in 2007. The Metro Council also reappointed David Pollock, retired CEO of Stormwater Management Inc., to another two-year term.
