From maximizing fuss-free native plants to growing organic edibles year-round, Metro’s October lineup of natural gardening workshops offers lessons for success without using toxic chemicals.
Rounding out the 2010 series of more than 60 free natural gardening presentations across the region, the October sessions continue the charge of helping participants learn techniques and practices that conserve resources, make the most of native plants, and reduce reliance on garden chemicals harmful to people, pets and waterways.
Register today for the current series’ final two presentations, which also include free publications and coupons good toward the purchase of compost, native plants or hand-weeding tools at participating area retailers:
- Grow your own organic veggies, 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, at the Washington County Fair Complex in Hillsboro.
- Transplanting perennials and natives, 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, Metro Natural Techniques Demonstration Garden, Portland.
