The Portland-Milwaukie Light Rail Project presents an opportunity to rethink the sense of place around future station areas. The transit project, which will add the Orange Line to the MAX family, will make it faster, safer and easier to travel in areas like South Waterfront and along McLoughlin Blvd.
Metro's partners, the cities of Portland and Milwaukie, as well as Clackamas County and the Oak Grove community, are planning for how best to improve neighborhoods around station areas by working with neighborhood leaders and experts to prioritize new investments that make the most of existing and underutilized buildings and that will make it safer and easier to bike and walk. Our partner jurisdictions, their neighborhoods and businesses rightly view the project as a catalyst to achieve local aspirations.
The project will likely publish the Final Environmental Impact Statement in mid to late July. The Final EIS concludes Metro's environmental work on the transit project.
