Making the most of the transportation system we have and stretching limited transportation dollars is the aim of the region's mobility program, approved today by the Metro Council. Transportation agencies across the region will collaborate to implement projects that apply advanced technologies that improve the efficiency of the existing transportation system.
One project will provide travelers with information about traffic conditions in the Interstate 84 corridor. Another will update traffic signals to better regulate flow through an industrial part of Tualatin and in central Beaverton.
"It's a relatively inexpensive way to help traffic move a little more smoothly," said Deena Platman, project manager at Metro. "And if you've ever driven where signals are well timed, you know how nice it is."
The regional mobility program work plan and budget was approved today by the Metro Council so that it can be included in the state transportation improvement program and remain eligible for continued funding.
