Daylight saving time ends on Sunday, but don't let that darken your spirits, or your clothing.
TriMet and Metro have teamed up with their partners to host a "Be seen. Be safe." event from 4 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 4 at Pioneer Courthouse Square to encourage commuters to stay visible and safe during with winter months.
This free, fun event will feature a bike ride, contests, free giveaways, refreshments and a fashion show of inexpensive, reflective clothing and accessories. Participants will receive tips on how to make themselves more visible when walking and biking. Safety lights will be given to all attendees.
Come wearing your brightest, reflective fashion gear for the “Best Lit Outfit” contest. Or, deck your bike in lights and enter the "Best Lit Bike" contest. The most visible looks will receive great prizes. Need more incentive? You may be chosen for a safety makeover!
Arrive at 5:45 p.m. to enter the bike or outfit contests. Just sign in at the Drive Less, Save More booth when you arrive at Pioneer Courthouse Square. At 6 p.m., join the Bicycle Transportation Alliance for a fun, easy-paced lighted bike ride through downtown for cyclists of all ages. After the ride, TriMet will have hot cocoa, cookies and free soup samples from SoupCycle. Registration is not required, and the event is free.
