Break out the brushes, dust off the drop cloth and get ready to paint – MetroPaint is having a once-in-a-decade blowout sale.
The MetroPaint Swan Island retail store is clearing its shelves and offering a 60% discount on all MetroPaint colors except for primer and Mountain Snow. Paint that normally sells for $15 per gallon is on sale for only $6. The paint is also available in 5-gallon containers for $30 each.
The sale is part of an effort to create a brand new MetroPaint color palette. Available colors will be narrowed to 12 standard colors and focused on hues that could cover an entire building without being overwhelming.
“We are excitedly making space for a new color palette arriving, fingers crossed, in 2022,” said Oliver Dickston, program coordinator at MetroPaint.
As for the current paint palette? Every color except for Mountain Snow is being discontinued, so now is the last chance to grab some discounted paint and a little extra for touchups.
For more than 20 years, MetroPaint has been in partnership with the PaintCare program to recycle latex paint. Only 10 states in the U.S. recycle paint; in most other places leftover paint is either dried and taken to a landfill or poured down the drain.
“MetroPaint has kept over 4 million plus gallons of paint out of the landfill since the program was initiated by Metro,” Dickston says.
The program is also involved in stewardship efforts to beautify public spaces, recently collaborating with Metro’s new Regional Refresh Fund which helps fund community-led cleanup efforts. If an organization has a cleanup project happening in an underserved area in the region, MetroPaint will donate free paint to that effort.
Additionally, MetroPaint has partnered with Adopt One Block to provide painting supplies to volunteers who have committed to cleaning up their adopted block.
“Not only do we produce an affordable recycled product to freshen up traditional spaces, but we offer a donated line of product to the community,” Dickston says.
