The Portland region’s next big transit investment, known as the Division Transit Project, is now eligible to apply for $100 million from the Federal Transit Administration to help build it.
On June 1, 2017, the Metro Council adopted the project into the region’s comprehensive transportation plan, reaching another important milestone.
The project would bring a faster, more reliable bus between Portland and Gresham, improving bus service in place of the 4-Division when it opens in 2021.
The Portland and Gresham city councils, Multnomah County Commission and TriMet board of directors all adopted the project into their transportation plans in December.
TriMet will lead the next phase of the project, focused on design and engineering, while continuing to work with project partners and the public to shape the final decision and funding package.
The transit agency will also lead efforts to gather input from community and business stakeholders.
