Now through March 31, interested nonprofits, colleges, universities, public school districts or schools (K-8) and government agencies may apply for the 2019-2022 grant cycle.
The program will award a total of $6.6 million in federal transportation funding.
RTO Grants are intended to carry out the policy direction defined in the Regional Travel Options Strategy, adopted by Metro Council in 2018. Previous projects funded by these grants include programs that:
–Support new and existing Safe Routes to School programs that make it easier for kids and their families to walk and bike to school.
–Reach people at home, work and at popular destinations with information and direct outreach on alternatives to driving alone.
–Support new or emerging technologies that can improve equitable, shared, and active transportation options.
–Use open-street events to help people experience and imagine how we can use our streets.
–Ensure commuters have information on the best way for them to get to work.
