New Conservation Education Council calls for nominations

That's the task ahead for members of the Intertwine's Conservation Education Council, a group of leaders charged with developing that vision, as well as working with regional partners and conservation advocates to support the Intertwine's mission.

Oregon City’s Canemah Bluff flourishes with more protected land, city park makeover, coming amenities

This summer, Metro’s efforts to preserve this unique stretch of nature took a major step forward with the purchase of two critical pieces of land. The $2.2 million investment nearly triples the size of this protected natural area from 90 acres to some 271 acres. That’s 181 additional acres that will now be publicly owned, conserving habitats and water quality.

Metro Council adopts 2011-12 budget

The Metro Council voted 7-0 today to adopt a $385 million budget for the regional agency for its 2011-12 fiscal year, which begins July 1. The budget is 10 percent smaller than the current year’s budget, and is focused on initiatives aimed at spurring private investments that will create good jobs, make neighborhoods safer and more livable, and protect the region’s farms, forests and natural areas.

Historic Schnitzer Concert Hall gets a facelift

Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall’s original brick and cast stone facade is in the midst of a major makeover. The project involves replicating the facade's original cast stone moldings, dating from 1928, to maintain its historic integrity while freshening up its looks. To ensure that the project was historically accurate, PCPA worked with Dortignacq Architecture, a Portland firm that specializes in architectural preservation. The renovation began June 6 and is expected to be finished in August.
