The Transportation Policy Alternatives Committee provides technical input to the Joint Policy Advisory Committee on Transportation on transportation planning and funding priorities for the region. This is the first of three technical workshops on the topic of Regional Emergency Transportation Routes.
TPAC reviews regional plans and federally funded transportation projects, and advises area leaders on transportation investment priorities and policies related to transportation. Such efforts include curbing greenhouse gas emissions and creating communities with easy access to public transit. The committee also helps identify needs and opportunities for involving the public in transportation matters.
This special TPAC workshop will address a timely topic – Regional Emergency Transportation Routes (RETRs) – which are roadways targeted during an emergency for rapid damage assessment and debris-clearance and used to facilitate life-saving and other response activities. This is the first of three technical workshops on this topic. We are also planning a series of three Community Based Organization (CBO) focused workshops on the topic as well (dates TBD).
