Metro is required to document funded projects scheduled to use federal funds over the next four years. The current cycle is documented in the 2024-27 Metropolitan Transportation Improvement Program.
Metro is in receipt of the proposed MTIP formal amendments:
The purpose of this amendment is to make the necessary funding corrections, increases and fund reprogramming to the 2024-27 MTIP. This amendment adds five new project awards to meet federal delivery requirements:
- Funding for the design of warning signs to be placed at highway curves in order to reduce vehicle collisions.
- Funding for costs associated with constructing curb ramps to Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards at up to 350 locations.
- Purchase of one new battery electric bus (BEB) as part of a larger order of 17 vehicles that will replace TriMet's 2900 series, diesel, 40-foot buses.
- Supplemental funding to support the design and construction of upgrades to Gateway Transit Center. Included is turnaround and layover space, new zero-emissions buses and improved operator facilities.
- Funding to support the construction of TriMet's fourth bus base facility, which will be a hub for powering and maintaining zero emissions buses as well as training operators.
