Metro is required to document funded projects scheduled to use federal funds over the next four years. The current cycle is documented in the 2024-27 Metropolitan Transportation Improvement Program.
Metro is in receipt of the proposed MTIP formal amendments:
The purpose of this amendment is to make the necessary funding corrections, increases and fund reprogramming to the 2024-27 MTIP. This amendment adds five new project awards to meet federal delivery requirements:
- $20 million in additional funding to complete mulitmodal improvements as part of the Rose Quarter I-5 Improvement Project. Improvements include ramp-to-ramp lanes, highway shoulders and cover, a new overcrossing, I-5 southbound ramp relocation and improved pedestrian and bike facilities.
- Cancels an ODOT project that would replace structural overlay at I-5 over Northeast Hassalo Street and Northeast Holladay Street.
- Additional funding to construct stormwater facilities for the east end of the Fremont Bridge and ramps to comply with the Portland Harbor Settlement Agreement.
- Funding to replace three of the five aging bridges over I-5 by constructing the central portion of the highway cover from Broadway to the southern end and beyond Weidler.
- Supplemental funding to construct street upgrades along Broadway, including enhanced sidewalks, ADA curb ramps, reduced crossing distances for safer pedestrian crossings and improved access to Rose Quarter Transit Center, Portland Streetcar, and other transportation services.
