Justin Carinci, Communications Director for the Oregon Transportation Research and Education Consortium, will present a lunchtime seminar at Metro Regional Center on Tuesday, March 15, to help participants increase their impact with social media.
More than 110 million Americans—over 60 percent of the online population—currently use social media websites such as Facebook and Twitter. Social networking has become Americans’ favorite online activity, jumping 43 percent between 2009 and 2010.
People are increasingly turning to social media to find meaning, dialogue and community. Facebook and Twitter have changed the way many companies communicate with their audiences and vice versa.
Don’t be left in the dark. Join Metro for a free brown bag lunch seminar about social media and transportation from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, in the Metro Council Chambers at 600 NE Grand Ave. in Portland. Justin Carinci, Communications Director for OTREC, will teach participants how to get started using social media for business. He will share information about how local transportation agencies and professionals use social media to build trust and communicate with their audiences inexpensively. Attendance is free and an RSVP is not required.
