Last November, voters across the region approved the renewal of the parks and nature local-option levy. The levy supports maintenance and operations at Metro's parks and funds restoration work at natural areas. That includes projects like the logging road removal at Ennis Creek Forest Natural Area. The natural area neighbors Portland's forest park and has several defunct logging roads from old timber operations. During the winter, the roads often fall apart, washing tons of dirt into streams in the forest.
Read about restoration projects that remove the roads and make the forests stronger.
