Reservations are accepted 15 days to nine months in advance. No day-of reservations are available at this time.

How to make a reservation
To view availability or reserve a shelter, use our online reservation system. If you have questions or need additional assistance call 503-665-4995 or email parksguestservices@oregonmetro.gov to check availability.
Reservable picnic areas
Each reservable area includes shelter, tables (including ADA-accessible tables), and is in short distance of parking, water fountains and restrooms. The picnic areas offer quick access to multi-use trails for hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding.
Heron Shelter
- short distance to trails, restrooms and water fountains
- electricity located inside the shelter
- large turfed area for games
- 30’x40’ open-air shelter with concrete floor
- up to 86 people, with seating under shelter for 57 people
- six standard 8-foot tables and one 10-foot ADA accessible table under shelter; three unsheltered 10-foot tables, one of which is accessible
- $215 on weekends and holidays, $50 on weekdays
Colibrí Shelter
- short distance to trails, restrooms and water fountains
- electricity located inside the shelter
- large turfed area for games
- 20’x28’ open-air shelter with concrete floor
- up to 34 people, with seating under shelter for 25 people
- two standard 8-foot tables and one 10-foot ADA accessible table under shelter; one unsheltered table, which is accessible
- $135 on weekends and holidays, $50 on weekdays
Protecting safety and wildlife habitat
- Pets are not allowed. They can damage sensitive habitat and threaten wildlife.
- Propane grills can be used on the concrete surrounding the picnic shelter. No charcoal grills allowed.
- Stapled decorations, balloons or items that create a lot of litter are not allowed.
- Amplified noise or music is not permitted. Only acoustic music is allowed.
Alcohol
Beer and/or wine is allowed in designated areas with the required permit. Permits can be purchased online when making a reservation. A minimum of 14 days' notice is required to secure a permit.
Catering and amusement providers
You are welcome to have your picnic or event catered with the required permit. Catering vehicle may park next to the shelter. No amusement equipment is allowed. Permits can be purchased online when making a reservation. A minimum of 14 days' notice is required to secure a permit.

Special-use permits
To support visitor safety and protect wildlife habitat, some activities – like paid classes, sporting events and fundraisers – require a special-use permit. Check the requirements to see if your event or activity needs one.
Set-up and clean-up
Rental fees cover the entire day:
- 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. from May 15 through Sept. 30
- 8 a.m. to legal sunset from Oct. 1 through May 14
Time for set-up and clean-up must be included in that time. Set-up includes unloading of food, beverages, tents, tables, and chairs. Clean-up consists of picking up all litter and trash, and removing all decorations, equipment and supplies.
Picnic reservation cancellation and refunds
You will receive a full refund:
- If you cancel your reservation 31 days or more before the reservation.
- If Metro closes the park on the day of the reservation.
You will receive a refund only of paid permit fees if you cancel your reservation 30 days or less before the reserved date.
Rescheduling
You may reschedule your reservation for a $20 change fee, if you do so at least 7 days before your event, depending on site availability. If you cancel after rescheduling, no refund will be given.
