One of the primary goals of the TV Highway Project Steering Committee is to create a project that is supported by the community, in particular transit riders and communities of color. To ensure this goal is met, the project team led substantial community engagement efforts throughout the project.
During phase one, more than 160 community members were introduced to the project through presentations at the following meetings:
- TV Highway Equity Coalition
- TV Highway Leadership Cohort (leadership development program with Unite Oregon)
- WashCo Bikes
- Beaverton Bicycle Advisory Committee
- Beaverton Neighborhood Association Committees (NAC): Central Beaverton, Five Oaks/Triple Creek, West Beaverton
- Washington County Community Participation Organization 6
- Hillsboro and Beaverton Youth Advisory Councils
- Aloha Business Association
- Washington County Chamber of Commerce Transportation Task Force, which included a representative from Westside Transportation Alliance
- Beaverton Chamber of Commerce
- Tualatin Hills Parks and Recreation Board
- Ride Connection/GroveLink
- Hillsboro Transportation Committee (a subset of Hillsboro City Council)
- Members of Oregon’s Mobility Advisory Committee (representing freight interests)
In phase two outreach, the project team conducted various public engagement efforts to seek community feedback on proposed station locations, gauge community support for proposed investments and allow space for open-ended comments.
These efforts included an online survey, tabling at in-person events and presentations to community groups. The survey was available in English, Spanish, and Vietnamese and received more than 1,000 responses. A project StoryMap complemented the survey, offering comprehensive details on the project’s background, purpose, proposed improvements and next steps. View the StoryMap in English, Spanish and Vietnamese.
