About PERC
The Public Engagement Review Committee meets three times a year and serves as a key component of Metro’s ongoing efforts to develop and implement successful public engagement processes.
Who should apply
Criteria for the selection of community member and community organization representatives include:
- Community service: Demonstrated commitment to community involvement
- Experience: Demonstrated skills, knowledge or experience valuable to support Metro’s public engagement principles
- Diversity: Collectively representative of the geographic and demographic diversity of the region
Duties of the committee include, but are not limited to:
- assisting with the development and the implementation of the community summit
- reviewing the annual public engagement report
- providing input on the content of the annual Opt In public engagement review survey
- reviewing public engagement activities at the project and program level
- making recommendations to the Metro Council about engagement priorities
The Public Engagement Review Committee is a charter-mandated committee comprised of:
- three public involvement staff from Clackamas, Multnomah and Washington counties
- three representatives of community organizations
- at least three at-large community members.
Application and selection process
PERC members are selected through an application, interview and appointment process. Metro staff will conduct interviews and recommend candidates for the Metro council president to nominate for confirmation by the Metro Council.
