Make and take your own toxics-free cleaner at Metro's Healthy Homes exhibit. Heading to the ninth annual Community Action Energy Fair this weekend? Don't miss the chance to make your own green cleaner at Metro's Healthy Homes exhibit.
With examples of common household products and less-toxic substitutes and practices, the touchable display teaches neighbors how to make their homes and yards safer for people, pets and the environment. Instructor Caran Goodall, Metro's toxics reduction educator, will be on hand to answer questions and help visitors make their own green cleaners using simple ingredients.
The free fair, presented by Washington County-based nonprofit Community Action, will offer tips on home energy efficiency and feature more than 30 exhibitors from emergency and utility services to appliance retailers and health care organizations. Fair goers can also enjoy refreshments, kids' activities, door prizes and health screenings at the event, scheduled 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at Lincoln Street Elementary School, 801 NE Lincoln St., Hillsboro.
